New Assistant Director of Nursing

We are pleased to announce that John Onyoni, RN, has been promoted to Assistant Director of Nursing at Millcroft. Prior to his promotion he served as our Second Floor Unit Manager.

Executive Director wins State-wide Award

Millcroft's own executive director Geoff Henry has been named "Administrator of the Year" by the Delaware Health Care Facilities Association. Fifteen individuals were recognized for their excellence in providing quality care and services to the elderly and the disabled in long term care facilities across Delaware at the 9th annual DHCFA "All Star Awards Program."

"These award recipients are the true unsung heroes of the long term care profession," says Yrene Waldron, Executive Director of DHCFA. "They are the individuals that daily care for the elderly and disabled of our state, 24 hours a day, as if they were their own family. They often miss their own family celebrations and travel in blizzards to work to provide quality care to those entrusted to their care."

Millcroft Champion: Executive Director Geoff Henry

Mr. Henry is also one of Five Star's is 77 employees who have been awarded the Assisted Living Federation of America's (ALFA) 2009 Champion Award for providing extraordinary care.

ALFA received hundreds of Hero nominations this year, and all those who were nominated became Champions. Inspiring nominations for the Champions were written by their co-workers, sharing stories about those who provide extraordinary care by going above and beyond expectations to care for, surprise and delight residents.

Quality Insights of Delaware "Golden Apple Award"

Millcroft has come a long way! Every three years, Quality Insights of Delaware honors the healthcare leaders in each provider setting: hospital, nursing home, home health agency, and physician office. This year, three nursing homes were selected to receive the Quality Insights of Delaware Golden Apple Award (their highest award), and Millcroft is one of them.

Winners were selected based on seven criteria, ranging from how often they partnered with QI on programs, to C.N.A. turnover, to resident and staff satisfaction surveys.

Congratulations to all staff at Millcroft, who continue to uphold the Five Star Quality Care values that guide our behavior, allowing us to be the best we can be!

Top-Rated by State Regulators

Millcroft's Assisted Living received a "perfect score" rating in 2008 from the state regulators that oversee the safety and quality of health services provided to residents and patients at skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers.

This perfect rating, also referred to as having achieved a deficiency-free survey, is an outstanding accomplishment. Regulators are diligent at examining hundreds of aspects of the facility, its services and its care.
